Abstract

GOMES, Pedrina Viana  and  CRUZ, Shirleide Pereira Silva da. Academic production on work conditions in Latin America (2000-2020). R. Bras. Est. Pedag. [online]. 2022, vol.103, n.265, pp.675-696. ISSN 2176-6681.  https://doi.org/10.24109/2176-6681.rbep.103i265.5176.

This article presents an analysis on the academic production on teaching work conditions and career policies of basic education in Latin America countries, focused on cross-cultural research. This is a descriptive research with bibliographic, documental, and bibliometric research procedures. Data sources include digital libraries of theses and dissertations defended in Brazil between the years 2000 and 2020. Analysis revealed that educational reforms have worsened teaching working conditions, which manifests as contractual and salary inequalities in public schools. Furthermore, the absence of a national regulation, that contemplates all teaching career structures, has suppressed historically achieved rights, in accord with the international movement for teaching reform.

Keywords : teaching work conditions; teaching career; teaching profession; Latin America.
