Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Giovanna Tereza Abreu de  and  SCHNETZLER, Roseli Pacheco. Milistones and marks of teacher training and development in physical education. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2016, vol.23, n.3, pp.91-112. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v23n3p91-112.

This paper addresses the issue of teacher training and development for Physical Education (PE) professionals, exploring relations between teacher trainer and teacher in training. In different historical moments, different views and reformulations have influenced the PE teacher training process. In this sense, the present research seeks to build answers for the following question: which milestones and marks are historically constructed and how do they constitute teachers in training? Based on the historical-cultural psychology, in the PE and teacher training conceptions in this area, and on university education practice, this qualitative-approach research was conducted with senior students and three professors in the undergraduate course of PE. The instruments used include analysis of institutional documents and professors´ teaching plans; semi-structured interviews with them and their students, and classroom observation of their teachings. The results show the predominance of the sporting model. In addition, they reveal that those three professors express and represent historical milistones of the area, and that marks of their personal and professional development - which justify different training performances - prove to be a benchmark for senior students’ teaching performance.
