The early literacy process, within contextualized activities, favors the preparation of readers and writers. This text, working from a bibliographical research (Marconi & Lakatos, 2003), discusses the importance of contextualized practices in the literacy process in school, in view of the social use of reading and writing. Throughout the text, a few propositions are presented for early school classes, focusing on reading and writing learning.
