This work aimed to analyse the possibilities for teachers building up knowledge on teaching practices and representations of students with deficiencies through collaborative actions. It consists in a qualitative research which was done based on meetings between the researcher and a teacher of a 1st grade (primary school) classroom from a municipal school in the countryside of the state of São Paulo. All the meetings were recorded and/or registered in a field diary. The meetings consisted in moments in which it was possible to discuss about the student with deficiencies and his modes of participation, as well as about the possibilities of pedagogical practices. The collaborative work provides space for the teacher to reflect on his/her practice, find ways to change it, and get more confident about his/her educational action.
