Abstract

ESQUINSANI, ROSIMAR SERENA SIQUEIRA. ‘I do not want followers’: critical reflections from freirean basis to democratic management. Revista Brasileira de Política e Administração da Educação [online]. 2021, vol.37, n.2, pp.851-866.  Epub Mar 31, 2022. ISSN 2447-4193.  https://doi.org/10.21573/vol37n22021.113255.

The text reflects on the materiality of the Democratic Management of Public Education, based on the thought of Paulo Freire. The text is anchored in an analytical- reconstructive methodology, having as an empirical space the articles published in the Annals of the Brazilian Symposiums on Education Policy and Administration, from 2009 to 2019, constituting a corpus of 473 articles, from which it is possible to point understandings about the materiality of Democratic Management from three perspectives: obstacles, indicators and principles. In dialogue with part of Paulo Freire’s work, it is concluded that the obstacles, indicators and principles are related and complementary, supporting a materiality for Democratic Management.

Keywords : Paulo Freire; Democratic Management of Public Education; materiality.
