Abstract

JARDIM, RENATA; OLIVEIRA JUNIOR, MANOEL GOMES DE  and  SCHOTT, MÁRCIA. Perception of racism in higher education in health from the teaching perspective. Revista Brasileira de Política e Administração da Educação [online]. 2022, vol.38, n.1, e113350.  Epub Mar 27, 2022. ISSN 2447-4193.  https://doi.org/10.21573/vol38n002022.113350.

This study investigated the perception of racism in higher education according to professors at a federal public university, in the countryside of the Northeast. This is a qualitative, analytical, and descriptive research carried out from January 2018 to December 2019. The results point to an apparent tendency to deny self-reported racism, including with the proximity to the environment where the phenomenon occurred. The perception of discriminatory facts, most likely underestimated, indicates the need to debate the existence of institutional racism.
