Created in 1988, Motrivivência is published under the editorial supervision of LaboMidia - Sports Media Laboratory and Observatory, of the Sports Center of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (CDS/UFSC).

It is an open access journal, continuous flow of submission and has adopted, since 2021, the continuous publication system.

It publishes original articles on Physical Education, sports and leisure, based on theoretical or empirical researches, as well as review articles, including extended abstracts, reviews and experience reports. It accepts contributions in Portuguese and Spanish.

The abbreviated title of the journal for use in bibliographies and references is Motriv.
